Group ShotArtistic director and owner/operator, Suzanne Zelmer, established Dance Trance in July 1991. The dance school has grown from its initial student body of 37 dancers to Several Hundred dancers today. Dance Trance is a dance school specializing in the instruction, choreography, and performance of the following dance mediums: jazz, tap, ballet, modern, lyrical, highland, musical theatre, acro, and hip-hop. Courses in modeling and acting are offered by Dance Trance in addition to dance classes. Dance Trance was located in Langley, BC, from September 1991 until December 2007. As of January 2008, Dance Trance is located in Surrey, BC. Dance Trance consists of 3 air conditioned dance studios with Stagestep II Sprung floors.

2009 SpidermanDance Trance has been involved in many artistic projects such as: the Get the Show on the Road Lottery TV commercial starring Michael J. Fox, the Crave the Wave Ocean Spray commercial, the Milano Condo Project, the Let’s Dance TV commercial, and a Noise Therapy music video. Dance Trance has also supplied talent for Vancouver’s Life and Leisure fashion shows, The International Consulate Generals’ Ball, Wedding Fair, Umbro Canada national fashion shows, and Convention entertainment for Vaneken and Assoc. Oakridge Mall and Richmond Centre frequently work with Dance Trance for various fashion shows and special events.

2007 GroupDance Trance talent can also be seen in numerous television and film projects around the lower mainland. Our talent has worked on the sets of: “Scooby Too”, “Santa Clause 2″, “Deck The Halls”, “Fanstasic 4″, “Nightmare”, Police Academy, The X-Files, Millenium, “McDonald’s”, “Gillette”, “Mattel”, “Purell”, “Fisher Price”, “Hasbro”, “Chalk.com”, “Telus”, “Dannon”, “Nintendo”, “WINNERS”, “Minolta Color Copiers”, Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story, Breaker High, Drive She Said, Police Academy: The Series, Nothing too Good for a Cowboy, and Saving Silverman just to name a few.

The choreographers of Dance Trance are recognized adjudicators for several national and international dance and beauty competitions.

Our dancers & choreographers are known locally and internationally for their award-winning performances in various competitions. They have won several highest scoring trophies and have received scholarships from USA dance conventions. following an auditioning process, the dancers of Dance Trance performed at Disneyland under the direction of Suzanne Zelmer on july 4th in 1998, 2001 and 2005. In July 1999, dance trance travelled to New York to take classes at the Broadway Dance Center. Dance Trance travelled to Banff, Alberta in July 2000 to compete in the Dance Power Western Canadian Finals.
