NICOLE VANDERWALL
Nicole grew up dancing at Dance Trance. Her first love was ballet and later added jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop, stage, and contemporary. During her years at Dance Trance she achieved the mark of Distinction on her Intermediate RAD exam, had the privilege of being in several high scoring competitive groups, and won a first place for her self-choreographed lyrical solo. Nicole also learned how to teach at Dance Trance by assisting classes, working the front desk and eventually joining the faculty in her senior year. She spent almost more time at the studio than at home! After high school, Nicole went on to study with several local training programs where she challenged herself to take her technique and artistry to the next level while also receiving Distinction on her Grade Six and Seven RAD exams. Nicole continues to learn through experiences at the DanceLife Teacher Convention 2013, DanceLife Retreat: The Future edition (focusing on the 8 and under crowd) in November 2013, and getting certified by Acrobatic Arts. Nicole recently completed her Bachelor of Arts in Dance Education from the Royal Academy of Dance and the University of Bath.
Nicole has performed in the BC Country Music Awards in 2005, in the Vancouver Olympic Closing Ceremonies in 2010, and in Disneyland in both 2005 and 2011, as well as ensemble roles with The Lover’s Cabaret and the role of Dorothy in AOS Vancouver’s Oz in 2017. Nicole loves performing and tries to inspire that same passion in her students. She believes that dance should be a fun, positive environment to learn not only dance but important life skills about hard-work, personality, sportsmanship and self-confidence.
Nicole is so excited to return to her “second home” to share her knowledge and passion with the Dance Trance family!
